Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my personal blog! My name is Rabab I'm an Art & Design student at DMUIC, I'm interested in ancient art, modern architecture, and graphic design. I will be sharing some interesting art stories that I have been looking at lately.

I will start by explaining " The Lady of Shalott " a painting by John William Waterhouse in 1888. What I liked about this painting is the deep meaning behind it, and how every pastel color describes a specific emotion. From what I understand from the painting, the cold colors describe the sadness in the woman's life. Furthermore, taking inspiration from the beautiful story of the same name by Alfred Lord Tennyson, Waterhouse's painting shows the sad woman who as a result of her unfulfilled love for Sir Lancelot, was cursed to die. The scene is described in Tennyson's poem in its fourth section (Top Ten British Masterpieces, ND).

I chose this beautiful architecture. As a Moroccan, I grew up in this Moroccan architecture that stands out with its unique and distinctive features, setting it apart from other countries. The influence of various cultures is evident in the design of monuments, the lifestyle of locals, and their habits. The vibrant use of colors is a captivating aspect of Moroccan architecture, noticeable in various elements. Patterns and textures, whether on walls or carpets, are widespread. The strong impact of Islam is clearly reflected in the precision of building construction and its elements throughout the country (Nishar, 2023). The colors in the picture above describe how peaceful and tranquil it is in the mosque, it also shows along with its patterns how attractive it is to the tourists, and the locals as well.
